Born in El Dorado and raised in Augusta, Kansas Leon C. Smitherman Jr. began his career in the oil and gas business in 1958. From drilling contractor to independent oil and gas producer his relentless commitment and passion for the oil and gas industry has spanned nearly five decades. During that time he has been involved in nearly every facet of oil and gas exploration and production. Although his career has taken him across the country as well as overseas, his focus has always been on drilling and operating in his home state of Kansas.
